2010 Sandown Classic Field & Barriers

November 11th, 2010

The 2010 Sandown Classic final field and barrier draw was released by Racing Victoria this morning in anticipation of the much awaited showdown at Betfair Park Sandown Hillside this Saturday, November 13.

Sandown Classic Day marks the closure of another brilliant Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival and features an elite line-up of races including the marquee event, the $350,000 Group 3 Sandown Classic (2400m).

Warm favourite in the eight-horse 2010 Sandown Classic field is nine-year-old Zipping, the Lloyd Williams-owned champion seeking an historic fourth straight Sandown Classic win.

Danehill gelding Zipping has been in career best form this spring with a win in the Turnbull Stakes, second to So You Think in the Cox Plate and another gallant run in the Melbourne Cup finishing fourth last start.

Drawn ideally in barrier one, Zipping is sure to start the favourite in the Sandown Classic betting markets when they open at Luxbet.

Sandown Classic runners looking to upset Zipping’s plans on Saturday include the Bart Cummings-trained mare Faint Perfume (barrier two) who will be ridden by Zipping’s previous Sandown Classic winning jockey Michael Rodd; consistent Kiwi galloper and David Jones Cup winner Ginga Dude (barrier six); Luca Cumani’s British runner Manighar (barrier eight); and 2009 Sandown Guineas winner Kidnapped who will head overseas to be trained in Dubai following Saturday’s run.

The 2010 Patinack Farm Sandown Classic is scheduled as Race 7 for Saturday and odds on the feature showdown are set to open at Luxbet shortly, so sign up now to be the first to back the winner!
